I made a decision to do a course and to get higher qualifications, because I wasn’t happy with my current job in a Catering company. I didn’t want to serve any more tea, coffee or sandwiches. I had higher aspirations. As I am an ambitious, open, friendly, person I wanted to show the best of my personality. I thought that the Receptionist or Secretarial Diploma would be the best option for me. I went online to search for some of the courses. Among a lot of courses listed Pitman Training Swords drew my attention. I made an appointment to meet the Centre Course Adviser - Roy.
I have to say that I come from Poland and I was concerned about my English language skills. After meeting Roy all my concerns were dispelled and I started to do a Secretarial Diploma course.
I have to acknowledge, that at the beginning it was quite hard for me. I had to learn a lot of vocabulary completely new to me and I kept using the rewind button to understand the instructions properly. But with time I noticed that my English was getting better and better. That was the great motivation for me. I also got great support from Stanislawa, the Centre Supervisor who is also Polish.
Pitman Training Centre offers a flexi time study and considering my shift work that was the best solution for me. I have never felt under pressure that I won’t finish my module on time.
When my course drew started to a close I started to send out my CV with my new skills and qualifications on it. I didn’t change my job straightaway but I was very determined to find a new job. As a result of my job searching I got a position as Receptionist in a dental clinic. So I started my new career and I love my new job!
At the end I would like to extend thanks to Pitman staff members Paul and Stanislawa for their help and patience. I would also like to express my gratitude to Roy & Maria for their valuable advice during and after the course.
I would highly recommend Pitman Training course to anyone, who has lost their job and doesn’t know what to do next or to anyone who is working but considering changing their career. In my opinion it is never too late to change something in your life.
